This
museum is run by the National University of Trujillo.It
has a small but interesting collection of artefacts
from the Huaca de la Luna (Temple of the Moon ) as well
as reproductions of some of the murals found there.
The museum has fine pieces of Moche and Chimu pottery.
A gift shop has a small selection of archaeological
books, a few of which are in english.

This
museum collected by Mr Jose Cassinelli from local huaqueros.
Don Jose's dream is to have a more appropriate and safer
place for his museum, because this museum has suffered
a robbery of 30 priceless archaeological pieces.
The Salinar, Viru, Mochica, Chimu, Nazca, Huari, Recuay
and Inca cultures are all represented, with highlights
including Mochica pots with graphic images of daily
life, people, animals and anthropomorphic deities.
