This museum is in the colonial Casa Garcilazo de la
Vega, the house of the historian who is buried in
Cusco's Cathedral.
The chronologically arranged collection begins with
arrowheads from the Preceramic period and continues with
a few pots of the Chavin, Vicus, Mochica, Chimu, Chancay
and Inca cultures. There is also a Nazca mummy, a few
Inca weavings and some small gold ornaments excavated
from Coricancha and from the Plaza de Armas in 1996
while the fountain was being renovated.Also on display
are a few dozen paintings from the Cuzco School and
pieces of colonial furniture.

Originally the palace of the Inca Roca. It used to be
Archbishop's Palace. There are some impressive ceilings
and the curious sala de Arzobispos (Room of Archbishops)
filled with jovially grinning life-size models of these
men.
The museum houses an impressive collection of religious
painting of the Cuzco School, including some by Diego
Quispe Tito, the 17th century Indian painter widely
regarded as the Master of the School.

This small modern underground museum is in front of the
Church of Santo Domingo and is entered from Avenida Sol.
There are various archaelogical displays such as pre
inca stone and ceramics, Inca wooden and metallurgic
crafts among others exhibits.

The museum has been recently renovated and features
excellent exhibits of mummies, trepanned skulls, Inca
textiles. It has 450 queros (Inca wooden drinking
vessels), which is the largest quero collection in the
world.

This museum has a splendic collection of paintings from
the Cuzquena School, as well as an impresive renaissance
altarpiece and several gigantic seventeenth century
tapestries depicting the union of indian and spanish
cultures.
