Day 1 : Cusco Pitumarca -
Uchuluccllu
Picking up fron the hotel to transportand visit the town
of Checcacupe following the river direction in a private
vehicle for the next four hrs. of ride we come to spot
to the Pitumarca Village where we meet with the
mulleteers and the arrieros , our companeros for the
next six days . The trail leads to the most important &
bigger lake placed to the southof the Ausangate
Mt.;laguna Sibinacocha (4,868 mts.). Continue up the
valley on the left side of the Pitumarca river throug an
area of rock that has eroded into twisted pinnacles and
other eerie shapes on the way to the village of
Uchullucllu we will stop after four hrs. of hike. Camp
for the night
Day 2 : Uchullucllu - Canchapampa
Uchullucllu village lies on the right side of the
Pitumarca river, so after breakfast we come to cross the
village , walk to the scholl house then the trail lead
up for three hrs. toward the Anaiso village (Hatun
Finaya, local Quechua name) which stands just betond the
gorge. The trail leads throug a series of spurs above
the river joining once again to the Pitumarca river. We
follow the trail steadily to come to the higland puna to
acamp at Canchapampa small settlement after three more
hrs. from the marshy plain. Camp for the night.
Day 3 : Canchapampa - Sibinacoha Lake
This morning we will enjoy a reconfortant breakfast
based in fruits and milk .We continue up the right side
throug the narrow canyon fording the Yanamayu (Black
river) a different mysterious name of the Pitumarca
river to continue the trip to Laguna Sibinacocha ( 4,800
mts.) in four hrs. trek .Once over the ridge, the trail
heads to the southern end of the Sibinacocha lake. With
some luck we spot with herds of vicuna (vicugna vicugna)
raoming the higland grass. Time to explore the Laguna
Sibinacocha and acamp on the lake’s shore.
Day 4 : Explore the alguna Sibinacocha - Salima
Full day explore time of the laguna Sibinacocha walking
around the hills and mountains. Arrive at Yanaccaca spot
near the lake habitat is a great place for numerous
species of birds like the andean geese, the Giant coots
(Fulica gigantea), the crimsom duck bill , leaving their
enormous footprints on the banks of the lake same as the
andean gulls . Set the camp at the Salima settlement
near the lake ‘s border to enjoy this natural wonder
with the large snowy peak in front of our camp.
Day 5: Salima - Chillcamayu
From Salima village to ascend once again towards a
great natural viewpoint of the valley to see different
colorfull lakes at the distance. Continue the trail to
the pass above ((5,050 mts.) and overlook a broad valley
below , then we cross the rio Chumayo, again the trail
leads up to some houses above a lake to keep hiking over
the spur of Nv. Chullani placed on the right side. On
the west side we come to cross the second pass (5050 mts.)
quiet nearly to the snow mountain and you notice quiet
sadly that we are leading out of the Sibinacocha lake.
After the pass a long down hill trail comes to get the
rio Chillcamayu, after three hrs. of hike throug a wide
trail and herds of llamas and alpacas pasturing in the
slope side of the mountains. Camp in the ravine near the
Chillcamayu junction river.
Day 6: Chillcamayu – J’ampa
Trek along the rocky and marshy trail to reach the
Valley of Chillcamayu, coming across corrals and herds
of llamas and alpacas, then come into sight of the Senal
Tres Picos, same as the Nv. Puca Punta. We continue the
trek along the left side of the rio Q’ampamayu, where
you can see the brown mountain vizcachas (Lagidium
peruanum). We’ll arrive to the J’ampa village,
surrounded by the icefield. Camp at the end of the broad
and massive Ausangate Mt.
Day 7: J’ampa-Q’omercocha Lake
The highest point part of the trek we’ll cover it. From
J’ampa to the Palomani Pass (5,230 mts.) takes 2 ½ to
three hrs. to get the top . After we enjoy the views we
lead down to the glacier of Puca Punta Mt. The trail
will take us for two hrs down to the Q’omercocha lake
for. Camp for the night.
Day 8: Q’omercocha Lake – Pa’jchanta - Upis - Cusco
Early morming wake you up to hike trough the broad
downhill towards the village of Ccalachaca (16,000 feet)
then comes the Paj’chanta village time to enjoy a bath
in the hot springs of the area, pass to see the local
school, where we leave all the gifts that you carried
for the local children.The trail continues trough the
nearby hills for three hrs. We arrive to Tinqui again,
aboard the bus to return to a warm and softy bed in your
hotel in Cusco
Day 9 : Cusco - Day off.
Free day for city sightseeing , shopping and rest .
Overnight.
