Ultima Inca Trail

Day 1 (Friday) Travel to Lima
We meet your flight and transfer you to a hotel in a quiet neighborhood for overnight. Meals are on your own today. (Meals included in the itinerary are designated B/breakfast, L/lunch, D/dinner.)

Day 2 Cuzco
Morning flight to Cuzco (3,310 m/10,857'). After transferring you to your hotel, we suggest you take the morning at leisure to adjust to the altitude. There is an important orientation meeting at noon at the Peruvian Andean Treks office. Your guide will review departure details, dietary issues, tipping, packing lists and flight reconfirmations. You are given your trail pad and duffel bag, and receive answers to any other questions you may have about the trek. The remainder of the afternoon is free for you to explore Cuzco’s fascinating streets. B

Day 3 Commence TrekkingWe pick you up at your Cuzco hotel and transfer by bus to trailhead at Piscacucho, on the Vilcanota River. Hike along the Vilcanota River beneath the impressive snowcapped Nevado Veronica through cactus gardens and fields of corn to the enormous Inca ruins of Llactapata, then continue up a side valley to camp in the hamlet of Huayllabamba. Day 4 Pacasmayo
We climb steeply up through fields and forest, then emerge above the treeline and reach Warmiwañusqa Pass (13,776’). Enjoy magnificent views to the Huaynay Range snowpeaks and Inca ruins. Descend to our camp in the valley bottom. BLD

Day 5 Phuyopatamarka
We cross a second pass (12,661’), and follow a fine Inca highway down to the exquisite ridge-top ruins of Sayaqmarka. Further on, we pass through a tunnel amid luxuriant cloud forest vegetation. Camp at superb ruins overlooking the Vilcanota River far below. BLD

Day 6 Machu Picchu
The Royal Highway descends steeply through orchid-rich cloud forest. The final part of the trail on the back on Machu Picchu mountain is stunningly beautiful. Reach Machu Picchu in the afternoon, and camp by the river beneath the ruins. BLD

Day 7 Machu Picchu/Cuzco
We enter the site early in the morning for an unforgettable day of exploring the many highlights of this famous site. Return to Cuzco by train in late afternoon, and transfer to your hotel. BL

Day 8 Cuzco
Breakfast in the hotel after transfer to the airport for your flight to Lima and conection your international flight or next destation.
