Breakfast. Early morning trek on an interesting trail with many flowering cacti; enormous agaves with flower stems in different stages of development, some as large as trees; and red and yellow Cantuta. Camp in Llamac (3,300 m). Lunch, dinner and camp.
Breakfast. Start our trek to Pallca (3,840 m), a hamlet of mud huts with thatched roofs. Along the trail, we may see Peruvian woodpeckers. Lunch, dinner and camp.
Breakfast. Zigzag steeply up a mountainside covered in purple lupine. Afternoon free to explore and visit Laguna Garacocha (4,500 m), a glacial lake backed by a steep moraine wall. Lunch, dinner and camp.
Breakfast. Early morning trek across the Cacanan Pass (4,700 m), seeing condors and vizcacha. Along the route, you will observe many species of alpine flowers, including tiny moss-flowers and forget-me-nots. Camp at Laguna Mitucocha (4,300 m), a lake teeming with trout. Lunch, dinner and camp.
Breakfast. Early trek to the spectacular views at Cahuac Pass. Camp at Laguna Cahuacocha (4,150 m). This afternoon, we will view Yerupaja (6,634 m), Perú’s second highest mountain. Lunch, dinner and camp.
Breakfast. We start by crossing a river and then make a gradual approach to the pass of Carnicero (4, 600 m); on our way to Huayhuash, a hamlet of five mud huts. Camp at Huayhuash. Lunch, dinner and camp.
Breakfast. Early trek, crossing a pass at 4,750 m, admiring the views and seeing hawks. Camp is at a windy spot, but has an inspiring view of Puscanturpa (5,430 m). Lunch, dinner and camp.
Breakfast. We slowly ascend to the pass of Punta Cayoc, at 5,000 m, the highest point of our trek. On our way up, we pass a swampy lake that may be partially frozen. Close to the pass, we will see grouse-like birds. After the pass, we make a steep descent and walk through the valley to camp (4,400 m) at the Rio Huayllapa. Lunch, dinner and camp.
Breakfast. We go gently down the valley, then make a steep descent along a waterfall for 190 meters. There are flowers everywhere; notably yellow broom, a kind of fuchsia. Just before the village of Huayllapa, we go sharply up a narrow valley. After a while, it opens up and, after a rest, we reach an open plain, where we make camp (4,300 m). Next morning, we ascend the first pass, Topush (4,800 m). From here, we can see the second pass and splendid views of the mountains of the Cordillera Huayhuash. From left to right: Ninashanca, Rondoy, Jirishanca and Yerupaja. We go sharply down for a long time to reach our camp at Laguna Jahuarococha (4,100 m), which has an excellent view of Mt. Rondoy. Lunch, dinner and camp.
Breakfast. We cross our last pass of the trek (4,300 m) and then go steeply down, for ages it seems, in the direction of Llamac, a welcome sight! After Llamac, we pass through a small field overlooking the valley and on to our campsite. Lunch, dinner and camp.
Breakfast. Early hike to Chiquian: gradually down, then steeply up to Chiquian and the trailhead. Drive to Huaráz. Overnight.
Breakfast in the hotel and transfer to bus station departure to Lima reception in the bus station and transfer your hotel. Overnight.
